When I saw the theme portal the first thing that came to my mind was the very iconic Chinese Pailou(is a traditional style of Chinese architectural arch), not only in China but also in Chinatown around the world there are iconic Pailou as entrances and the Pailou are usually embellished with various oriental dragons, which reminded me of a Chinese folk legend of carp leaping over the Dragon Gate, in ancient times people found that every year in the springtime golden carp would go up against the water and form a group at the But above the waterfall, where the current is swift and no fish can ascend, the ancient people imagined that these golden carp would change into dragons and ascend to heaven after jumping over the dragon gate. I wanted to bring this beautiful vision into my scene by comparing the characters in the scene to carp, crossing over hardships and dangers to reach the gate, hoping to transform themselves into dragons.

So I started to do research on pailou. After reading a lot of information on pailou, I found that it combined many elements of Chinese architecture, so I divided it into three parts for in-depth research: Chinese roofs, Chinese architectural structures, and Chinese floral patterns.

After the research I first drew the silhouette, then designed and finally modelled the structure based on my research.(However, two details are missing from the design that can be seen now, such as the decoration on the roof and the pattern on top, which I will update in subsequent iterations.)

This is the scene laid out for rendering in unreal.
